Aspiring Medics from across our schools took part in a special day hosted by Radley College. ‘This Isn’t Going to Hurt’ was a day full of practical activities led by medical professionals. Students attended different workshops which included; Surgical Skills
An Introduction to suturing, Role Play in General Practice, Plastering, splinting and C-spine immobilisation and a mock ITU ward round. Students valued the opportunity to work with students from other schools and develop useful skills for future careers. They also attended a presentation by MedicFutures on The Application and Interview Process for Medicine. Feedback was excellent with 100% of students finding the day enjoyable and useful. 100% of pupils agreed that the day had to some extent raised awareness of a career in medicine, increased motivation, given further understanding of the next steps and highlighted different careers in medicine. Thank you to everyone involved, another example of the value of working together across the partnership to raise aspirations and increase opportunities.
