Medic Day Inspires Future Doctors
A group of 30 aspiring medics from across our schools recently attended the annual ‘This Isn’t Going to Hurt’ event at Radley College. The day was designed to give students a realistic and inspiring insight into life in the medical profession.
Participants took part in four interactive, hands-on workshops covering key clinical skills such as suturing, patient immobilisation, and the realities of general practice, alongside sessions exploring a range of medical specialties. Guided by experienced healthcare professionals, students were able to develop practical skills, ask questions, and gain a clearer understanding of the pathways into medicine.
Beyond the technical learning, the event provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect with like – minded peers from other schools. They shared aspirations, discussed future options, and began building supportive networks that will continue to benefit them as they navigate work experience placements, applications, and exams.
We are incredibly grateful to the medical professionals who generously gave their time and expertise, and to the colleagues whose collaboration made the day possible. The impact of this partnership extends well beyond the event itself, as students continue to support and motivate one another on their journey into medicine.
We wish all our aspiring medics every success as they take their next steps — and we look forward to welcoming a new cohort to this inspiring event next year
